The Mosque of Ibn Tulun
Situated in Cairo’s Old City, the Mosque of Ibn Tulun is the city’s oldest mosque, and one of its most impressive mosques in Old Cairo tours. Built in 876 AD by the Abbasid Caliph Al-Ma'mun, it was originally named after his son but later came to be known as the Mosque of Ibn Tulun after its second owner, the Tulunid governor Ahmad ibn Tulun.
