Rashid or Rosetta is 65 km east of Alexandria. The name of the city is very famous among Egyptologists as the famous Rosetta stone was discovered in 1800.

The first place you visit is the fort of Qaitbay. This fort was built in 1262 to protect the city and Sultan Qaitbay restored its tower in 1479.
