One of the most sacred excursions you can do in Sinai is visiting the place where Moses got the Ten Commandments and spoke to God, where he saw the Burning Bush. At the foot of Mount Sinai, this great and holy place is waiting for you.

The place is called the Monastery of St Catherine and is also known as the God-Trodden Mount Sinai. This Greek Orthodox monastery is one of the oldest monasteries in the world. It preserves the relics of St Catherine. The monastery's actual name is the Monastery of the Transfiguration, but it later became associated with St. Catherine of Alexandria, a 3rd-century martyr whose head and hand were brought here for safekeeping in the 10th century. St. Catherine's Monastery became a major pilgrimage destination in the Byzantine Era and it still is today.

You will start your experience around 2:00 am, accompanied by the Bedouin guide, by climbing to the top of the mountain to see the first rays of the sun when it rises on the horizon. The exceptional view on the mount top is worth the climbing for three hours.
