Al-Alamein is a coastal town in Northwest Egypt, about 160 miles (320 km) away from Cairo. The desert of this town witnessed The Battle of El Alamein, which marked the culmination of the World War II North African campaign between the British Empire (THE ALLIES) and the German-Italian army (THE AXIS). Your Egypt Tours offers a day excursion to this town to visit the important attractions there.
Upon meeting your guide at your Cairo or Giza hotel, a drive of 3 hours and you will start to visit the main attractions including the Al Alamein military museum, which houses a large collection of uniforms, armed vehicles, and weaponry that belong to the different parties. It provides an insight into the 1942 battle, which represents a turning point in the war. The museum is located close to the main El Alamein Battlefield. Very close to the museum, you will visit the cemetery of the Commonwealth. This is the burial place of 7,240 Commonwealth soldiers from the British empire. Enjoy the sublime atmosphere and the beautifully organized gravesite.
With a short drive on the main road, you will enjoy the sea view with its different blue degrees, and then you will visit both the German and Italian cemeteries. Your Egyptologist guide will accompany you to all the sites to explain everything in detail, including the famous figures of the battles such as Rommel, and Bernard Montgomery, and the conflict between the Allies and the Axis forces.
